Reflexion: WO’skeep on gyrating!

WO Reflexion: Mini-Displays + Maxi-Performance Lecutres

WO’skeep on gyrating!

Sorry for being a proper WO and late in time. In next week’s Reflexion (Wednesday afternoon) we will gravitate towards the overwhelming realms of both Display + Performance Lecture… somehow… we’ll split up in groups at one point in time as we successfully did last week. But! For we can profit from each others perspectives, positions and efforts, we want to ask you to do a little bit of homework.

Read the info below first and fill in your plans into this eye-hurting chart afterwards. Minis + Maxis alike. Please do so until Monday night so we can take your data into consideration the day before the meeting. The sooner the better – for all of us. Thank you.

We will start and eventually continue the session together by approaching another item Sabine dropped into our Reader_WO namely On_Curating_Issue_22_Politics_of_Display (2).pdf. Lena and Iva will prepare a brief intro on the basis of „Revisiting Display: Display and Backstage“ for everybody. Meanwhile Chris is preparing other surprises [see eye-hurting chart].

Under the title „Curating: Politics of Display, Politics of Site and Politics of Transfer and Translation“ (p.4-) by Dorothee Richter + Nkule Mabaso you can find brief summaries of what you can expect in the pages to follow. Please select one contribution and prepare a mini-presentation yourself. Stay either close to the text or mash it up – bring something to share in one form or the other..

Definition of MASH-UPsomething created by combining elements from two or more sources: such as; a piece of music created by digitally overlaying an instrumental track with a vocal track from a different recording; a movie or video having characters or situations from other sources… See the full definitionwww.merriam-webster.com

The idea is that we get an idea – not of what the journal in question is all about – but what of it has caught attention by someone out of our „mini-collective“ and maybe also why. We might get closer to an idea of what curating could be as well as closer to each other. If someone has already taken the topic you like > navigate with the early bird. Collaborate.

>Maxis are invited to prepare themselves for a maxi-Wo-performance-lecture-colloquium in the manner they choose most suitable. Therefore, Lena + Chris warmly recommend you to have a look at the followingexamples in advance. The latter is of course also true for Mini’s:
