Art & Protest:
The art scene in Iran is vivid and interdisciplinary. Artist in Iran must overcome great difficulties and challenges in order to practice as ar-tists. Working under the current situation, Iranian artists are facing greater dangers than ever before. Despite the dangers, a new genre of protest art is emerging in Iran. The Master Dialogue will give you an insight into the current scene. The event addresses the dange-rous situation for artists and musicians in Iran and aims to provide an overview of the new developments emerging from the protests. The Master Dialogue is accompanied by a performance by Iranian artists living in Switzerland. Second part of the evening is the screening of “Manuscripts don’t Burn” by the director Mohammad Rasulof who is currently in prison. Based on true events, Rasulof’s work is a critique of the machinations of censorship and delves into the nature of evil. The background of the work revolves around a manuscript concerning a failed assassination plot by the agents of the regime against writers and journalists.
